KNWU and Airolube: Unifying Power for the Future of Cycling
Engineering the Future: KNWU and Airolube Forge Strategic Partnership Through 2028
Arnhem/Stadskanaal, March 19, 2025 – The KNWU (Royal Dutch Cycling Union) and Airolube have officially solidified a long-term partnership for professional bicycle maintenance, extending through 2028. As the official partner, Airolube will supply its plant-based lubricants and cleaners to the Dutch national teams across road, MTB, and track disciplines during European and World Championships. This collaboration marks a decisive shift toward a cycling era where elite performance and environmental integrity are inseparable.
Elite Performance, Zero Compromise
In professional cycling, every watt matters. Power, endurance, and mechanical precision define the margin between victory and defeat. However, the industry’s reliance on legacy chemical maintenance products has long posed risks to both the environment and the health of athletes and mechanics. By selecting Airolube, the KNWU proves that Mechanical Supremacy does not require ecological sacrifice.
"As the KNWU, we embrace our responsibility for the future of the sport," states Daniël Heijne, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the KNWU. "We are intensifying our focus on sustainability, and this partnership is a cornerstone of that strategy. Our athletes and mechanics handle maintenance products daily. In Airolube, we have found a solution that delivers professional-grade effectiveness while prioritizing the health of our team and the world they ride in."
Setting a New Standard for the Peloton
Sustainable maintenance is no longer an alternative—it is the benchmark. This partnership represents a pivotal moment in the transition toward an eco-conscious cycling industry. Airolube continues to prove that plant-based innovation can outperform traditional petrochemicals without making concessions on the finish line.
"We deliver peak performance on the bike while safeguarding both the individual and the environment," says Henk Jaap Moorlag, Commercial Director of Airolube. "This collaboration sends a clear signal to the entire cycling community—from national selections to weekend enthusiasts. Everyone has the power to contribute to a cleaner, healthier sport. It begins with selecting the right chemistry."
The KNWU and Airolube share a singular vision: a cycling world where elite performance is achieved through respect for the machine and the planet.
