Cleaner rides, less maintenance
Nothing is more frustrating than a chain that turns black with grease halfway through your ride. Airolube Chain Wax works differently than traditional oils. Instead of a liquid layer that attracts grime, our wax forms a dry, solid protective barrier. This prevents dust and sand from sticking. The result? A drivetrain that not only lasts longer but is also easy to wipe clean with a dry cloth after every ride.
FAQs
For the best results, we do not recommend this. Wax only adheres optimally to metal that is completely free of grease and oil. Therefore, degrease your chain and sprockets thoroughly first with a product like Airolube Heavy Duty Degreaser. Once the chain is dry, apply the wax for long-lasting and clean protection.
This depends on the conditions, but on average, we recommend retreating the chain every 150 to 250 kilometers. In dry, dusty conditions, the wax lasts longer; after a very wet ride, it is wise to wipe down the chain and apply a fresh layer.
Our Chain Wax is specifically optimized for dry to slightly damp conditions. In these conditions, the chain remains exceptionally clean. Do you often ride in heavy rain or through deep mud? In that case, we recommend reapplying more frequently or choosing the Airolube All Season Wax, which is more resistant to being washed away.
Oil remains liquid and acts like a magnet for sand and dirt, creating a 'grinding paste' effect that wears down your chain faster. Wax forms a dry, hard barrier that dirt cannot stick to. As a result, your chain runs quieter, stays shiny and clean, and your components can last up to twice as long.
No. Unlike many traditional waxes that use PTFE (Teflon) or other microplastics for lubrication, our Chain Wax is entirely plant-based and biodegradable. It is 100% safe for the environment without compromising on performance.
Shake the bottle well before use. Apply one drop of wax to each individual chain link while rotating the pedals backward. Allow the wax to dry for at least 15 to 30 minutes (preferably longer) so the liquid can harden into a protective layer. Before you ride, briefly wipe the chain with a dry cloth to remove any excess wax.
